Day 1-2 Skill Builder: Color Wheel
Students will learn how to create secondary and teritary colors using only the primary colors.
Day 3 Skill Builder: Shades, Hues and Tints
Students will learn how to create shades, hues and tints using a primary color with black and white paint.
Day 4-8 Semi Project: Fruit
Students will use their knowledge of creating layers and shading to paint a fruit of their choosing.
Day 9 Critique Day
Students will use today to reflect, give input and grow as an artist. Everyone will participate in a class critique giving constructive feedback to fellow students.
Good Example: "I think a red background will not help your foreground pop forward. Have you thought about using green or blue instead?"
Bad Example: "I don't know, I don't like. It looks confusing."
Day 10 - 20 Main Project: Favorite Meal
Day 10: Students will research and find a high resolution image of their favorite meal. Once they receive the print out, they will begin tracing or drawing out their image onto painting paper.
Day 11: Finish drawing out your image.
Day 12: Critique Day: present to the class your plans, including the list of colors you need to use. Make any alterations before you begin painting out your image.​​​​​​​
Day 13 - 19: Work on your favorite meal composition. Remember to incorporate details, textures, shadows, lighting, etc. Do not use flat shapes.
Day 20: Finish your favorite meal composition and turn it in for grading.
